Fishing isn't a hobby, it's a way of life!
Sept. 7, 2010
What can be said; strong winds, some rain, and some cool weather and things are starting to heat up. Fished the Betsie on Sunday and did really well. Something like 12 for 18 there abouts. Can get hard to keep track when we would have schools of fish move through and all were into fish for a half hour or so. Then a half hour or so without any. Take a 10 minute break to rerig or get a quick bite to eat and next thing you know there in there again and eveyone is fighting fish again. Things should just continue to get better.
Lower PM fishing pretty good and with the weather staying the way it is should continue to be good.

So far the salmon are only trickling in a couple a day. Hope to get out again this week yet and see how its going.
March 11th 2010
Wow it's been a while since I updated this. Pics of this year will come soon. Got a new computer and still got to load software to the camara. Anyway, water was finally rising today. Not much color to it as of yet but the rain today should help change that a bit. Got 3 today pulling plugs and it should start to get really good in the next few days.
Will update conditions and the fishing Saturday evening.
November 28th 2009
The last couple of weeks the fishing has been good to excellent. Most days the spawn fisherman seem to be doing best and the plugging has been good. Every time it rains more fish seem to be moving up. Seems that there are starting to be some darker fish in the river also. Some days the fish have all seemed piled in one area.
October 4th 2009
I am seeing more and more salmon in the Mo on a daily basis at this piont. Many of the salmon are heading to the spawning gravel at this point and there are some great chances at rainbows and browns behind the salmon and also in some places many salmon grouping together on the redds. With the continued weather pattern of rain and cool temps things should continue to progress very nicely. I still have a lot of dates open in Oct, Book yours now!
September 27th 2009
Well September was a hit and miss month some days went well others well were a drag. The way too warm and dry weather had a horrible effect on the run. Although we did fight and catch some excellent size fish. Even one very early steelhead. Anyway I am hoping for October to be better. I am back home on the Mo and my first trip will be within the next week. I will be sure to try to keep everybody posted. New phone # 989-239-7510
August 28th 2009
With the rain and cool weather the salmon are starting to run. As long as things don't warm up to much fishing should just continue to improve. Bass fishing has been somewhat slow and trout fishing has been good with streamers. Will post again shortly to keep things updated.
August 9th 2009
Fishing most days is fair to good. With this hot weather the bass may start to bite a bit more. Will start to look for the start of the salmon run and keep you posted.
July 13th 2009
Once again sorry for the delay. Haven't been on the river much. When i have it's been slow. The inland lakes seem to be producing more and bigger fish this year. Panfish is almost a weekly dinner for us. I am now booking salmon season get your date reserved before they are all booked up.
April 20th through May 31st 2009
Sorry for the delay in fishing reports. In ending a really busy April with tons of rain and a half way decent May with tons of wind. The fishing has been good to excellent. Lots of bugs on the river right now. Bass are spawning in the lakes in my area. Crappie on the edges along with bluegills and they have not started beds or spawning to this piont. As water warms up the bass fishing should get really good in the next couple of weeks as the spawn comes to an end.
April 11th through April 19th 2009
The river has dropped a ton and the steelies all seem to be moving right to the spawning gravel. Water temps are in the upper 40's. Plugging has dropped off and is not near as productive as it has been. With trout and walleye seasons just around the corner I can start to target trout and walleyes.
April 3rd through April 10th 2009
At this piont the river is dropping every day and clearing. Some fish are moving top the spawning areas and there are still plenty of fish in the holding water waiting for there turn to spawn or for the pressure to let up. River has been extremely busy and you just have to fish the water you can and fish areas you may not otherwise fish. Good luck out there.
March 25th through April 2nd 2009
Fishing has really picked up over the past week and there seems to be a few fish holding in most to all good areas. DNR was out shocking for walleye today. Once again this year center pin fishing was great.
March 16th through 24th 2009
The fishing has been fair to great over the past week. Most days yield four to six fish and one day a week has been up near 10. Most fish are coming on plugs or spawn. As the water warms fishing should improve. River still a bit high but has cleared to about 5 foot visiblity.
March 14th and 15th 2009
The river has come down a bit over the weekend and is in good shape. Fish seem to be all over the river and many are fresh spring run fish. With the warmth and sunshine this weekend there seems to be more stonefly nymph activity and there were actually some mature stoneflies landing on the water Sunday. Things should just continue to improve moving towards April.
March 7th and 8th 2009
Fish seem to be moving around quite a bit the last couple of days. Areas of the river that almost always seem to hold fish had nothing going on and the areas that we decided to try because of the higher water held the fish. All where within about six feet of the river bank. Will update again on Sunday or Monday. Good luck out there.
February 23rd and 26th 2009
Seems to be a good number of fish in the river and the new ones are fiesty. Most fish with the higher flows are close to the bank and sitting in areas with the lowest flows. The fish also seem to be in the here today gone tomorrow phase.
February 22nd 2009
What can I say but one great day on the water. Started of a bit slow the first couple of areas above pine st had me thinking it was going to be a slow day to say the least. A ways below Pine st. we stopped and fished an area that was a bit protected from the wind and did it pay off. A few minutes into this area we had are hands full with a double. One of them was a skipper but the other was about a ten to twelve pounder. After landing those two it only took a few minutes and into another skipper. A few minutes after that we got into a big fish that made the drag sing a couple times, we never really got a good look at that one before it spit the hook. Things slowed down in that area a bit and we headed to thornapple for lunch. It did not take long after lunch and we were into another great fish that tangled lines and found some timber. After all that the lure got caught on the net and we ended up losing that fish. Just a short distance later into another fish in the ten pound range and landed. Headed down stream a couple of miles and got on a really slack water area and within a minute we had another going. This was the big fish of the day about twelve pounds. Went down stream a good distance again and very shortly into fishing that run we had yet another fish on. All and all we went 6 for 8 plugging. Color really did not seem to matter much anything with chrome or rainbow trout colors very productive. Fair number of stonefly nymphs moving around by the thornapple landing. Fresher fish are in and it should just keep getting better. Water levels are great right now for fish to be on the move. Visiblity in the water was about 3 to 4 feet. Will continue to update as things progress to the spring run.
